Application guidelines for the MA Digital Humanities
Are you interested in the Master’s program in Digital Humanities? Here you will find information about your application and the admission requirements.
The course always starts in the winter semester (application deadline 15.07).
For the Master’s program MA Digital Humanities, a completed first university degree (e.g. Bachelor) with a subject-specific or related degree is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in Digital Humanities and Social Sciences or Digital Humanities is considered subject-specific. Applicants with a subject-specific degree and an overall grade of 2.50 or better will be admitted directly to the master’s program. Applicants with an overall grade of 2.51 to 3.75 will only be admitted after a successful interview.
- Other Bachelor’s degrees are recognized as related fields of study, provided they include a minimum of 25 ECTS credits in computer science and 25 ECTS credits in humanities and/or social sciences. In this case, a successful selection interview and an overall grade of at least 3.75 are required.
- Do you not fully meet the requirements, for example because you lack the computer science component? Then the Digital Humanities module courses might be a good option for you to further your qualifications!

To be admitted to the Master’s program, you need proof of a Bachelor’s degree. Applications for the Master’s program in Digital Humanities are submitted via campo – the FAU application portal. Application documents must be submitted online by July 15th.

Kenntnisse der englischen Sprache auf dem Niveau B2 des Gemeinsamen Europäischen Referenzrahmens sind nachzuweisen, sofern der erste berufsqualifizierende Abschluss nicht in englischer Sprache erworben worden ist. Der Nachweis kann auch bis zum Beginn des dritten Fachsemesters nachgereicht werden. Sofern kein deutscher Studienabschluss oder die deutsche Hochschulreife vorliegt, müssen Deutschkenntnisse auf dem Niveau DSH2 nachgewiesen werden.
Ausländische Studienbewerberinnen und Studienbewerber müssen sich ebenfalls über campo – das Bewerbungsportal der FAU – bewerben.
Campo erstellt aus Ihren Angaben einen Zulassungsantrag. Darin finden Sie eine Übersicht der einzureichenden Unterlagen. Die Bewerbungsunterlagen müssen jeweils bis zum 15.7. online eingereicht werden.
Ausländische Zeugnisse sind in beglaubigter Kopie und beglaubigter Übersetzung (wenn diese nicht auf Deutsch, Englisch oder Französisch ausgestellt sind) vorzulegen. Entsprechen Ihre Unterlagen nicht der Form oder fehlen wichtige Nachweise, müssen wir Sie leider aus dem Verfahren ausschließen. Weitere Informationen zur Beglaubigung.
Der Masterstudiengang Digital Humanities wird auf Deutsch und Englisch unterrichtet. Deutsch ist die Unterrichtssprache an der FAU, daher sind entsprechende Sprachnachweise für die Aufnahme eines Studiums der FAU unerlässlich.
