Content and structure

The program can be studied full-time or part-time and is designed to last four or eight semesters, respectively. The program always begins in the winter semester.
The first semester focuses on developing theoretical and methodological foundations, upon which topics from the humanities and computer science are built. Later in the program, students can choose from elective courses, internships, study abroad opportunities, and team projects.

In a year-long project, students work in groups and/or with external partners on current research questions. This serves to deepen and apply the acquired knowledge.

Within the elective supplementary studies program, students broaden their academic horizons according to their individual focus. They choose from modules in related disciplines such as computational linguistics, digital art history, museum studies, theatre and media studies, cultural geography, archaeology, or other humanities subjects.

In the fourth semester, students write a master’s thesis in their chosen field of study and discuss it in a colloquium.
