Seminar on academic research in the DH

What does it mean to conduct academic research? How do you develop a suitable topic for a thesis or project and identify the necessary resources? How do you structure and write an academic paper, deal with writer’s block, and present your work and its results to different audiences?

In this seminar, we will address these and related questions through discussion and practical strategies. The focus is on research practices in the Digital Humanities, a field characterized by interdisciplinarity, diverse scholarly traditions, and a wide range of topics and methods. These features create specific challenges for planning, carrying out, and presenting research projects.

The seminar is open to students at all stages of their studies, but it is particularly recommended for those who are beginning or preparing to begin a thesis or project. Participation alongside the DH Colloquium (Wednesdays, 4:00–6:00 p.m., c.t.) is also recommended.

The seminar will be held in German but can be taught in English upon request.
