Congratulations to Dr. Tillmann Ohm on Two Awards at Tallinn University

We are delighted to congratulate Dr. Tillmann Ohm, postdoctoral fellow of the Images and Objects Group in Digital Humanities and Social Sciences, on receiving two awards at Tallinn University.

His doctoral thesis, Designing Processes and Tools to Research Similarity Spaces of Visual Collections, supervised by Prof. Maximilian Schich, was awarded Best Doctoral Thesis in the Field of Natural and Exact Sciences.

In addition, Dr. Tillmann Ohm received the Best Paper Award in the Field of Digital and Media Culture for the paper fruit-SALAD: A Style-Aligned Artwork Dataset to Reveal Similarity Perception in Image Embeddings, co-authored with Andres Karjus, Mikhail Tamm, and Maximilian Schich.

Dr. Tillmann Ohm’s work is closely connected to the research interests of the Images and Objects Group at DHSS, led by Prof. Dr. Mila Oiva, where he is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow. His research focuses on the computational study of visual collections, similarity spaces, and image embeddings. Before joining DHSS, Tillmann and Mila previously worked together at the Open Lab for Cultural Data Analytics (CUDAN), an EU-funded Horizon 2020 multidisciplinary research lab, where they collaborated on research involving historic audiovisual media, particularly newsreels.

We warmly congratulate Dr. Tillmann Ohm and all co-authors on these achievements.
