New at DHSS: Nancy Scharpff

We are delighted to welcome Nancy Scharpff as the new managing director of the Department for Digital Humanities and Social Studies!

With her background in academia and many years of experience in research funding and science management, she brings valuable expertise and, since May, supports the strategic development of the department and the creation of innovative research and operational structures.

Nancy Scharpff studied sociology in Leipzig and Nantes (France). Her professional experience includes positions as a research assistant in different German universities. For the past nine years, she worked as a research advicer at the University of Passau, where she provided strategic advice and operational support to researchers in the planning and development of externally funded research projects. She also played a key role in establishing and developing the university’s central research data management services.
