As part of a lecture series, organized by the FAU Scientia, Sabine Lang will talk about problematic content online and presentation strategies.

The collections of art history and provenance research in particular often contain problematic content in the form of discriminatory and racist terms, violent images or personal information. With the digitization of these collections, problematic content is put online and thus made available to anyone and everyone. This can be dangerous: Therefore, should everything be published online without restriction? How should we deal with problematic content online And what strategies are already in place? The article addresses these questions by presenting various database examples from art history and provenance research.
